EU should agree price cap on Russian gas: Italian PM

Italian Prime Minister Draghi said on Wednesday European Union countries should agree to cap the price of gas imported from Russia to ease the burden of rising prices on businesses and households. Stated.

“The Italian government has been pushing hard at European level to cap the price of imported Russian gas,” he said at a conference in Rimini. “Some countries continue to oppose the proposal, fearing a cut by the Russian government, but the repeated cuts to Russian gas supplies this summer have limited that stance. It became clear,” he said.

He said the cap on Russian gas prices would be discussed at the next EU summit and called for steps to be taken to decouple gas and electricity prices.

The next EU summit will be held in October.
